Use this skill when designing relational or graph data models — 3NF, star schema, Data Vault, property graphs, RDF graphs, table inheritance, temporal tables, graph traversal patterns, knowledge graphs. This skill enforces: normalization 3NF by default, denormalization only when performance-proven, surrogate keys over natural keys, graph modeling with node/edge design patterns, and schema-first design. Covers relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and graph databases (Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, Dgraph). Do NOT use for: dimensional modeling (see dimensional-modeling skill), NoSQL document modeling, or streaming data schemas.
